Hello! I have been on a search that I am hoping someone here can help me with. My mother made this recipe that she got from an Avon cookbook back in the 80's, that my dad loved. All I can remember is that it was a chicken dish with I believe egg noodles and a red sauce, possibly made with paprika. Any ideas?

We use queso blanco to make queso fundido. I make it low fat, so heat a saute pan on medium heat, spray non-stick spray, then place 1/2 inch (approx) slices on the pan until golden brown and slightly melty on one side and flip to do the same on the other side. You can serve this plain, or it's good with guava paste.

It is called risotto in my store (aborio rice) but most people who are not affecionados of cooking call if risotta from what I have found. It is just what food network and a lot of shows of made popular, they say make risotto and use aborio so people go to the store to buy aborio.

The original bucatini were hand-rolled on a ferretto -- a metal rod -- to create a tubular pasta with a thin hole, but nowhere near as thin as in the bucatini we buy in stores today. Amatriciana is the most traditional sauce, but sardines are a close second.

English creams come single, double or clotted. I would assume it is single cream which is not really the cream from the top of the bottle (which I haven't seen for years though might be available in Jersey cows bottled milk if milkmen still deliver that better known as gold top).

youx, toux, can doux a roux! sorry everyone-- i have wanted to do that for SO long! a blonde roux will have greater thickening power than a longer cooked (imo more authentic tasting) dark peanut-butter-colored, or even better, a red-brown roux, cooked 45 mins or more.

Heh, this is an OLD recipe from a free brochure I picked up with rice recipes...this sauce is surprisingly good and I now use cream cheese from time to time if I'm stuck trying to make an herb cheese sauce...it really works and is much cheaper than Boursin or Alouette ($5.99 per package now!!!

Just to follow up. We can't deal with it at home - way, way too much sugar. We passed along the abundant leftovers to a neighbor. Just got an e-mail about how awesome the cake is, how addictive, rave, rave, rave, etc. and how they're going to eat it all up and not share it with the kids.

We've made paella a couple of times in the past two months and the flavour turns out excellent. For me, though, there's a little problem with the "wetness" of the paella: that is, there seems to be a lot of "sauce" in the finished product and the individual grains of rice are not really "dry."

I bought a bundle of spearmint from the local Asian market yesterday and found a bunch of a mysterious leafy herb tucked into the back. It took a bit of researching, but I soon figured out it was Vietnamese mint, aka Vietnamese coriander, Vietnamese cilantro, or laksa leaf.

I'm looking to possibly try my hand at making Cook's Illustrated's Chocolate-Espresso Dacquoise. However, the people I would make it for really dislike coffee flavor and as the dessert suggests, there is espresso powder in the buttercream.

To usher in the grilling season AND to break my 2.5 months of vegetarianism (I was prepping for a half-marathon that I ran the other week and decided to forego the meat to see if it would make a difference), I am planning to grill a steak.
